Headed out early Saturday morning before work and we were greeted with some pretty nautical conditions. It was about 35 degrees with a steady 20+ mph wind and 2 ft of chop in the bay. We went to work in the flats in the lower part of the bay trolling and had a steady pick of slot sized fish through out the morning despite the conditions. We tried to jig/cast shads for a little bit but the current was very strong and the fish weren't too stacked in my opinion. We ended that day with about 8 fish to 30+ inches all caught on chartreuse and white tandem mojos and 9 inch tsunami shads. We decided to make a last minute trip today 4/4 and at first it was a super slow morning of fishing. After about an hour of catching no fish I broke out the binoculars and started to go on the hunt further out into the bay (furthest this season so far). After about 15 minutes of driving around I saw out in the distance hundreds of birds diving into the water and just going crazy. Sped over to that location and it was game on right away. Caught about 20+ fish to about 20 pounds on the troll (same spread as Saturday). I would have liked to have tried to jig them up today on the 9 inch Ben Parker spoons but it was a super strong current and I did not have a drift sock with me. It's forecasted to rain the rest of the week up until Friday but I'm definitely going to try to get at least one trip in while the fishing is this good.
